Hatemalo Sanchar was founded in 1982 through the initiation of a group of senior broadcasters of Radio Nepal, Alternative Media experts and litterateurs of Nepal. We began by raising an unified voice, through radio programs, against human rights violation of children with disabilities in Nepal, and advocating for the equalization of their basic rights. Hatemalo introduced Child-to-child (C to C) Concept in Nepal in 1982 through its Radio Hatemalo and Hatemalo Child Clubs. We designed corresponding training courses for adults and children, along with a wide range of C-to-C materials for the practitioners. With the strength of its strong team of well-known child rights experts of the country, national level master trainers, advocacy experts and researchers, Hatemalo conceptualizes, implements and monitors all its programs on the principles of Child Rights based approach.
A World Fit For Children, where the Families, Communities, Societies prioritize Children putting Children FIRST in all their activities and endeavors of life.
Our Mission is to capacitate and empower key stakeholders and duty bearers at all levels, from the family to State, thereby enabling them to bring in Positive Social Changes in favor of children, to create a protective and caring environment for children to grow up happily; to save them from all harms and to defend their rights; We foster development of capable and independent adolescents and youths to lead as citizens par excellence as catalysts for CHANGE
Hatemalo envisages a society where children and their rights are respected & valued and adults are committed and obligated to fulfill children’s rights; a child friendly society where children are safe and happy, where children enjoy their childhood; where they grow up with Love & Affection, Care and understanding.
We Respect children's Participation Rights, we listen to children's views and opinions, trust them, respect & value their views/opinions; we believe in working together with children and youths involving them in promoting & ensuring their own rights, as well as empowering & mobilizing them for addressing the issues that affect them, for protecting themselves from harms and for ushering necessary social changes to protect their Rights. We strongly believe that changing the attitude & mindset, knowledge & capacity of Primary Duty Bearers & Key stakeholders from Family to State level is the KEY to make them Accountable to children to provide Tender Loving Care in a happy joyful environment for children to grow up. Hatemalo trusts children, listens to them, values their views and opinions. Hatemalo believes that the family and the community where a child belongs to, is the most important primary institution responsible to bring in desired positive changes around children; and families and communities are to be capacitated and empowered to accept and fulfill the responsibilities towards their children. It also believes in networking and partnership with likeminded organizations, forums, educational institutions, local level Government bodies, and establishes working collaborations with them to address children's issues.
We work for the protection of child rights in general, but with a major focus on children who are marginalized, deprived of rights and opportunities, and are in difficult circumstances with emphasis on Girls, as they suffer most; thus we support children with disabilities, orphaned children, children belonging to economically deprived, socially deprived families and those who are exploited, neglected, isolated, abused and tortured.
